Xbox 360 Slim
The new update patch is absolutely incredible. It allows the use of USB external hard drives, up to 16TB each! This is a tremendous amount of space for the Xbox 360 which can handle 2 external drives, for a total of 32TB. Why would anyone ever need that much space? I have gathered all my games onto one hard drive and still have about 4TB of free space. But if someone has collected digital movies and TV shows, the Xbox 360 could play them through the MS dashboard.
Downsides to this system -
The new format changes the USB format to FATX instead of FAT32. Which means ..... 1.) You can no longer use standard, low capacity media (flash drives, external hard drives). You can use high capacity media (1TB+) but you have to format it using FATplorer software. You cannot format media on console. 2.) Mupen64-360, the N64 emulator, doesn't work because its designed to run only from FAT32.
Most people won't mind these small problems.
The system has been divided into 4 different Dashboards to help performance but it can still be a little slow to load all the box art in the menu. This can be improved even more if the customer creates a Favorites tab and then sets that tab to default. Then booting that dashboard would load directly to their favorite games.
The system has a default dashboard and three secondary dashes. The default loads automatically on startup. The other 3 can be loaded from the default, or through shortcut keys during startup or after leaving a game.
Default Dashboard - 1979 games consisting of Xbox 360 disc games, Arcade, and emulators
Imports Dashboard - 131 foreign games (*Shortcut, press and hold X on startup, or after exiting a game.)
Indie Dashboard - 2816 Indie games (*Shortcut, press and hold A on startup, or after exiting a game.)
Original Xbox Dashboard - 909 Original Xbox games. Some games are not compatible with the Xbox 360, included for collection purposes. (*Shortcut, press and hold B on startup, or after exiting a game.)
